4 KEYS To Be Healthy WITHOUT Medicines

।। जीवेम शरदः शतम् ।।

Jivem sharada shatam.

Every living organism enjoys their total span of life. They hardly encounter any disease or die before their actual life span until and unless they encounter an accident. It is the humans who fell sick and die underage. This is due to the unhealthy lifestyle which disobeys the natural rules and regulations.

Unnatural death is not the fate of the humans, instead, it is the self-bourn problem. It is the need of the humans to eradicate this problem and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Weakness, disease and unnatural deaths are not part of humans for their healthy life.

For being healthy one doesn’t need to take tonics and supplements. Instead, wise use of available resources can lead to a healthier life. Earlier, lifespan used to be more than hundred years and thus, hundred years of age was a common phenomenon. Rose Wolfe(1916 – 2016), a Canadian social worker, administrator and philanthropist; Hazel Wolf (1898-2000) an activist and environmentalist; Eugenie V. Peterson also known as Indra Devi(1899 – 2002), a Russian yoga teacher who was an early disciple of Sri Tirumalai KrishnamacharyaSyed Mohammad Sharfuddin Quadri(1901–2015), an Indian independence activist, Gandhian and a physician of the Unani system of medicine; etc. are a few names who survived for 100 years and above. There are many oldest people who have crossed 100 years of age. To its surprise, most are women. Among the top 100 verified oldest people, only six are male and rest are female. The verified oldest person is Jeanne Louise Calment (21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997) . She was 122 years old. But there are many unverified Yoga practitioners who have uplifted themselves above physical body and have survived for hundreds of years. They don’t have records, but irrespective of religion, they are witnessed by many people.

Among these centenarians, one thing was common – they lived a disciplined life according to nature. Chiyo Miyako (2 May 1901 – 21 April 2018), a Japanese supercentenarian who became the world’s oldest verified living person and died on 21 April 2018 credits her never smoking habit and natural diet for her longevity.

The food we take makes our body and mind. We are what we eat. But there is a condition which we forget. We are very selective in food intake. We focus on the high price and the nutritional value printed on them. Moreover, various types of health supplements occupy our diet chart for a healthier life. But if we look around we will find each creature follows nature’s rules and eats according to their nature. They don’t focus on the nutritional value or ever heard that they take supplements for their health until and unless they are kept as pets. So, the most important thing is not the food we eat but our digestion capacity. And our digestion depends on these four keys:

Four Keys to be Healthy without Medicines:

1.Choosing the right foods :

We should eat healthy food.

  • In this context, fruits and cow milk are the best suitable food for humans. Nothing is more nutritious, digestible, quick energizer and healthy food than these.
  • Vegetables come next. they lack taste and required cooking for proper digestion. But we can eat some vegetables raw like tomato, carrots, radish, cucumber etc.
  • Dry food stuffs get third position in food list. Dry fruits like almonds, cashew, resins, dates etc. lack water content and thus, need more energy to digest. Contradictory to these, wheat, maize, rice etc. are more nutritious in dry form.

Moreover, every processed food is unnatural and harmful for health. Lesser the processing, least is the risk for health.

2.The right way to eat :

Right food taken in wrong way can be harmful to us. So, one should ask four questions before eating:

  • What should we eat ?
  • When should we eat ?
  • How Should we eat ?
  • How much should we eat ?

Getting correct answer for these questions help us to build holistic health. We get both physical and mental health. Answer for ‘What’ is already discussed. For ‘When’, one should fix time to eat. At the same time, one should feel enough hunger. Two times meal in a day is enough for a normal person. We can understand ‘How’ from the fact that when one is angry, one’s digestive enzymes and blood flow in stomach decreases. Thus, one should eat in a quiet environment with a peaceful mind. Lastly, the stomach should be half filled with food, one fourth with water and air.

3.Proper labor :

Yoga is the king of all exercise systems.

Any physical activity which stimulates various organs of the body helps to increase its capacity to do work. This helps in longevity. Exercising or labour doesn’t mean muscle building. Instead, it resembles optimum use of body organs for proper blood circulation. This provides holistic health. These include Yogasanas, pranayama, walking, running, swimming, outdoor sports, aerobics, gardening, etc.

4. A systematic lifestyle by avoiding Disarray :

Laughter is the Best medicine which costs nothing.

Restraint and proper arrangements in life are must for a holistic living. One should control the senses and not suppress them. One should feed each senses with purity. One should avoid excess eating, excess sex, excess talking and everything in excess. These decreases the vital energy resources. Individual should take proper sunlight and fresh air. Motto of life should be – ‘Simple Living and High Thinking’. And these all are dependent on cleanliness and positivity in thought and action.
